Practical help, shaped around your question

From the monthly bill to the bigger decision.

Start with what you need to understand. We agree the scope, evidence and expertise your question requires before detailed work begins.

01 / COSTS

Bills, rates & energy costs

“Why did my bill go up?”

Residential and commercial bill reviews, tariff comparisons and meter-account investigations. For a move or purchase, explore what available building-energy information can tell you and what still needs checking.

02 / PERFORMANCE

Buildings that work better

“Is my equipment operating as intended?”

Controls performance reviews, equipment and energy baselines, operating sequences, trend-data requirements and commissioning support. Quarterly advisory can help you review progress with your facilities team.

03 / INVESTMENT

Better investment decisions

“Is this upgrade worth doing?”

Repair-versus-replace comparisons, independent solar and battery feasibility, electrification readiness and lifecycle costs. Examine assumptions, implementation needs and alternatives before committing.

04 / DATA

Data you can use

“Can I trust and take my building’s data?”

Metering and data acceptance, access and portability reviews, analytics-provider comparisons and vendor-exit readiness. Understand what is measured, what is missing and what you can actually export.

05 / OPPORTUNITIES

Incentives & flexibility

“Which programs fit my property?”

Help understanding utility incentives, demand response and opportunities to shift or reduce loads. Eligibility, timing and approvals depend on the program and should be checked before work begins.

06 / CLARITY

Utilities & public decisions

“What does this proposal mean for me?”

Explanations of public utility proceedings, reporting obligations and the evidence behind proposed changes. Distinguish a request from an approval and an effective requirement.

Have a question outside these examples? Bring it to the initial conversation. Some requests need a newly scoped investigation or qualified specialist support, including legal representation or regulated engineering.

How we work

A clear question.
A useful next step.

Basic educational guidance or a short initial consultation can be free. Detailed reviews are paid work, with scope and required inputs agreed first.

  1. Tell us what you are trying to decide.

Start with the bill, symptom, proposal or question. We identify what help would be useful.

  2. Agree the work and the evidence.

Define the deliverable, fee and required records. Missing information is flagged before it becomes an assumption.

  3. Compare options and priorities.

Review findings, tradeoffs and limitations. Keeping what you have may be a reasonable recommendation.

  4. Implement and review within scope.

The owner or facilities team coordinates implementation. Agreed follow-up can review results; additional testing and ongoing advisory are scoped separately.

Research & accountability

Understand the systems behind the bill.

Alongside its commercial advisory services, Energon is developing research initiatives that make energy institutions, infrastructure and public decisions easier to examine.

Governance in development

Energon Research Commons

A vision for an open research community, with Energon as a steward rather than the sole owner of its work. The organizational and governance model is still being explored, with traceable sources and shared scrutiny at its heart.

Research in progress

Utility & PUC research

Organizing public records and source evidence to help explain utility oversight and regulatory decisions. Candidate workups remain drafts awaiting review; public releases need separate review before publication.

Private development

Infrastructure Transparency Platform

A developing way to connect infrastructure, organizations and supporting public records. The platform remains private while its evidence and presentation are reviewed. It is not a public service yet.

Tools in development

Less effort to get oriented.

These concepts and internal prototypes are being explored alongside our advisory work. They are not live consumer products.

Equipment & quote decoder

Look up equipment information, explain ratings and identify the questions a proposal still needs to answer.

Weather-versus-bill explainer

Explore how usage, weather and rate changes contribute to a bill, with assumptions and data gaps visible.

Know Your Utility

Bring reviewed utility and regulatory information together, distinguishing proposed, approved and effective changes.

Renter & buyer energy context

Use building-energy disclosures to ask better questions before a move. Whole-building figures do not establish an individual apartment’s future bill.

Why Energon

More understanding.
More agency.

Energy decisions affect budgets, comfort and communities. People deserve explanations they can question, evidence they can trace and options they can compare.

What you should expect

  • Traceable recommendations. Applicable technical guidance, source editions, site evidence, assumptions and limitations are identified.
  • Disclosed relationships. Partnerships are made clear. You can retain your existing contractor, compare providers or decide that no new product is needed.
  • Tools with human judgment. AI may assist extraction, analysis and reporting under expert review. Calculations and recommendations still need evidence and validation.
  • Honest boundaries. If the data cannot support a conclusion, the finding says so. Specialist work is identified and scoped appropriately.

Start with your question

What would you like to understand?

Tell us what is happening and what decision you need to make. You do not need to know the technical category first.

A useful starting point

Describe the issue, the kind of property or organization involved, and any deadline. If relevant, say what bills, equipment details, operating data or proposals are available.

We can then agree what to review and how to provide the necessary records. Do not send passwords or sensitive account information.
